We Are Not Burning
We are not burning.
We are standing at the precipice, you and me
Seeing everything that we can see.
from such a great height, we can see everything.
And I can see that we are not burning.
We are changing; Shifting in the sands of time,
but you'll be surprised to find that nothing changes
if you keep moving along
with the ever-shifting everything.
We are not burning.
We are soaring on high in an orange-tinted sky,
looking for a new landing, praying to airy fragile gods
that our seeds will find purchased on solid fertile ground
and settle down into a new beginning.
We are not burning.
The fire can't touch our skin
because it can not hurt us from within.
We are the flame,
and the wick is our world.

The world needs rest. And so do we.
It is time to stop burning.
