Notes About The Poem

WAXING CRESCENT MOON

I sat upon the crescent moon tonight,
a silver swing in the sky,
my feet dangling over the quiet dark
like a kid on a cosmic porch.

Earth floated below~
a bright blue marble
someone forgot to put back
in the toy box.

“Look at you,” I said,
“all dressed up in oceans
and twirling like you own the place.”

The moon just winked,
rocking me gently,
as if to say,
“Don’t tell them~
but you’re my favorite view.”

Very cute, Sara! …like a kid on a cosmic porch…the earth as a bright blue marble, and the reciprocity of the moon seeing you as its favorite view!
