Waterfall
Waterfall
This waterfall is in my living room.
It sits on the table, with rocks I collected
And maybe some that came with it years ago.
The light still works, the water gurgles.
If I shut my eyes, I am at a brook.
It calms the stress in daily life.
Such a simple thing, a simple pleasure.
Yet a way to appreciate this time.
How did life get so complicated?
Why? We must ask.
When society rumbles with problems.
People act out in unspeakable ways.
Too much is happening, all around.
When it could be simple like a smile
Or gentle as a caring hand shake.
I have many unanswered questions.
They tumble around in my mind.
Sometimes I just need the waterfall
To clearly wash it away for now.
So I can feel the love of living
In a day that is ready to silently end.
A day, I will never get back.
