Water Lilies
Did Monet mean to capture my mind?
In the pond where water lilies lie-
The dark beneath the shimmering light...
I begin to lose my sight.
I float on top but still feel the drag
Of the currents tugging me by my hands.
And although I don't know where I stand
I'd rather be in water than on the land.
Lord forgive me for I have sinned.
These peaceful tides can pull me in
As I forget that in order to live
I should bury and not dig.
Down the river, following the stream
As the moonlight beams down on me.
I try to move on but all that she sees
Is the past and how it tortures me.
So from today, I'll turn a leaf
And promise that I'll never leave,
Not love, not hope, not life, I'll keep
Floating above for eternity.
