Water and Earth

Emotional is Water, for like its tides, it’s moving constantly from high to low. Like people on those roller coaster rides, waves rise up very high and then they go crashing down, but with Earth, it’s not the same, for Earth is mostly stable – immovable, but Earth, when meeting Water, has a name. That name is Mud! It’s highly provable. Imagine Earth, unruffled and so calm meets moody Water, pelting it as Rain. Earth does not retaliate. Drop a bomb? No, it takes IN Water, for Earth is sane. When Earth and Water marry, they but need the warmth of Sun; then they can grow a seed!

I love when you bring up mud! Such a good blender for earth and water.

I could have gone a bit higher than honorable mention for you in this contest. I like how you made this literal. "Like people on those roller coaster rides, waves rise up very high and then they go" Exactly! Good job on your win. Congrats!

"When Earth and Water marry, they but need the warmth of Sun; then they can grow a seed!" -- always a delightful read your poetry. So many twists and turns. Mother earth needing very little from us outside our appreciation. We soggy and muddy, I know that well -- a cute desert story for another time. Blessings.

Water is quite moody and emotional, and earth is stable and sane...Somehow my mind drifted to star signs.. Earth and water together lead to mud,but withe sunshine above them-they birth their seed of love..I could almost picture the sun as God..Love love love this Andrea.

hmm, I think it left the theaters now but I recall seeing the trailers. I love that you are Taurus. I have it for moon sign, so I got the stubborn streak too

you may be the only one who got it. I am triple earth sign. My husband is double or triple water. He has no earth in his charts. I have no water. So I am the stable one in the relationship. Yes, this was personification of the two elements as represented by my husband and myself! Thanks, Charma

Ria...this is a interesting creative way of personifying unruffled calm Earth and the emotional moody Water... Got the implied meaning.. Best wishes in the contest dear... Hugs... ~ Ani

This is wonderfully organic :) and I love the reminder it brings that everything in nature has a purpose, nothing (even mud) is ever wasted or works in isolation. Nice poem, Andrea.
