Water

We listen for the kettle
As we warm up the water
Your touch like the stove
But I can't seem to mind it

The pond is calming
So are you
As we lay side by side
Our words like honey dew

The lake is the next step
So vast and filled
As it softly murmurs
Into our ears

Our love is like water
It started out cold
It was warmed up the longer
Each other we held

It starts out small
Calming and shy
With our hands lily pads
Gently floating on the water

Then it gets bigger
At first it's cold
The longer we stay
We warm up

And we expand
From containment
From small quantities
Until we are whole
