Watching My Lover Sleep

WATCHING MY LOVER SLEEP

On downy pillow your head lies
You toss a bit and then relax
And when you wake you’ll fight surprise
Dreams of youth will not turn to facts

I’m awake and anguish burns me
On downy pillow your head lies
Reach for you and passion reigns free
These sleepless nights my sacrifice

In your wild dreams tormented cries
Strangers haunt you at every turn
On downy pillow your head lies
Some lessons you will never learn

Oh, my darling, heart's glorious glow
Each morning you put on disguise
I kiss you lightly head to toe
On downy pillow your head lies
