Watching From the Balcony

Glancing just once over my shoulder
I see him quietly standing there
Please God , make my steps seem boulder
Don't let him see this fitful stare

He said that now he didn't want me
That in his life I had no place
But yet he seems to want to see
The evening shadows on my face.

I feel life going on around me
And with tears I must turn away
Lord, give me your strength I plea
A bit of my life he killed today

Excellent poem, Barbara. Congratulations on your win. Guess we were thinking a bit along the same lines in our interpretations. I saw sadness too. But that's what I expect from my fellow LNC. Love, Carolyn
