Watching and Waiting
"Watching and Waiting"
six sets of watchful eyes peer impishly
surveying each move my footprint takes
they try to appear waiting quite sheepishly
as I stroll into the kitchen, the carpeting earthquakes.
twenty-four feet hurriedly stand to touch the ground
stalking my every step with rapid heartbeats
their "big brother" prancing escalates to astound
as I reach into the pantry for delicious treats.
swift jumping and cajoling, strong serenade begins
overpowered, I submit to demands and requests
a brood of hungry canines and felines always wins
how does one say "no" to rambunctious animal pets?
