Watch Out Dream, I'M Awake

I’ve always wanted to climb a cliff Straight up Without rope Unless the guide insists It’s not about reaching the top Though helpful So what Just climb, don’t stop I’ll pinpoint each grab and foothold The journeys What matters And let the day unfold I’m finally going to go out now And reach for My dream To accomplish a vow I’ve learned to set my sights higher But heavens It’s raining Maybe tomorrow if it’s drier Or let this dream stay magical A vision To keep I don’t need to go radical

One should be excited to cling the mountains of our life. But it can be a terrifying journey! We make excuses for our tomorrow. And hang out with sheep in the safety of the plains. Or hide from rain. Man makes excuses to not grow. And loses his dream of climbing, of coauering himself… Pangie

I just love the title, David --- and glad you didn't go radical. You're needed in the shrinking 'middle-ground' of America's devastated soil. :) gw

I like this, and then the faltering when rain comes. This is life, always throwing in a wrench!

Sometimes it's just about thinking of the things we could do when the time is right. I enjoyed your poetry today, David. Thanks for sharing it with us. A poet friend in Texas, Bill
