Wasted Life

Fountain of knowledge, once I drank from you
Once, I yearned for you
Drinking in your sweet essence
Once….

Stolen youth led to adolescent rebellion
Neglecting the fountain
Dry, barren, void
Wandering….

The fountain calls to me
Brief encounters to refresh my soul
Too much time spent in the desert
Struggling….

Half a lifetime wasted
Half a lifetime searching
Barely a remnant left
Too long from the fountain I strayed
Despairing….

I call to the fountain
Longing to quench the scorched remains
Afraid, unsure, trapped
Fighting….

Fountain of knowledge, once I drank from you
Once, I yearned for you
Drinking in your sweet essence
Once….

I really like this one. You manipulate the words and thoughts so precisely. This poem could be a narrative of my life now. Thank you.

Another really cool and deep poem. I like how you crafted this to come full circle. Your phrase choices are wonderful and even though this is a free verse poem, it has a cadence, a melody all its own. Very nicely written. Oh...Welcome to soup. I hope you enjoy your time here.
