Warning From My Committee

Nature nurtures Geminis like me.
Sun and flowers, honey, and bee.
I put out a call, and laid down in the sun.
Little Wolf came quickly, always on the run.

She’s done, depleted. She’s forgotten how to play.
She wants to come home, said my deceased cousin, Mae.
She has missions left, we have warned her before.
She gives too much of her light, which is why she’s so sore.

We will heal you this time, my committee said. If you promise to play.
If you lead others, and teach them to not be this way.
I lay in the sun for two hours, nurtured by sun, bird and flowers.
Keep some of your juice, keep some of your powers!

You have to keep a bit of shine, to keep yourself going.
My chairman told me sternly, his essence was glowing.
I think I am ready, I said. I can pass the test.
I cuddled my animals on the couch, my own little nest.

Drink lots of water, someone whispered in my left ear.
My breathing calmed down, I knew it was someone dear.
You have to change your life to a methodical pace.
Doing your bit to honor the whole human race.

Can I do it? I asked. My imagination did not know.
Can I keep back some of myself for myself? Keep my light low?
Can I take care of me too? And maybe put some of my needs first?
It might be worth it to not always feel my worst.
