War Is a Bad Dream

War Veteran Wanting All Reminders Vanished Eliminating Thoughts Every Recollection Agonizing Never-ending Little brother to big brother I had to ask, lol Q: What was it like to kill someone? A: The first one was like shooting at a target in training Q: What was it like to get shot in the head? A: Like getting hit with a baseball bat Q: Were you afraid? A: Yes, all the time Q: Can I have your Purple Heart? A: NO!! lol I watched my brothers soul change from innocent To, memories, thoughts and feelings of killing another At the time with no remorse yet after years of remorse and Mental pain never being able to forget! That becomes one constant Bad Dream still fighting A war that will never end! Mental wounds of war! Still to this day I thank God I never had to go into battle and see what he saw!

My father was in WW11 -told us rather harrowing tales. Was stationed in Italy and up in North in Africa, When the British troops liberated Greece, he had to stay in Greece for a certain period of time and that is where he met and married my mother. War is disgusting, its all about killing or getting killed. if only disputes could be handled with more diplomacy and hatred with love. Your poem describes war utterly and completely as it is! Well penned Bobby. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Every word you wrote -- absolute, sobering truth, Bobby. Thanks for this one. ~ Wolfman
