Walter
This is the first in a series that I wrote for my son a few years back. I wrote the first and he asked for more so the others follow here as well. The first of the series is just a quick intro. The more I wrote of the Walter poems the better they got I think. There are five(5) poems in total, the last of which titled "A Fathers Pride".... Hope you enjoy.....
Walter
Tucked beneath mulch and shredded bark
Awaiting the voyage that he’ll embark
To the cold wet hand of runny nosed boy
Who farts and burps and thinks him a toy
To feast on worms and grubs and slimy things
And other bugs that the little boy brings
And then to be cuddled or taken for rides
In any toy transport that Joey decides
All this before being placed gently at home
In the safety of glass where he started from
You see this is the life of Walter the Frog
An African Bull who’s loved more than a dog
Penned - March 2008
