Walls of Innocence

What evil lies beyond the walls of innocence?
Who will protect the children?
Can anyone repair our broken Hearts?

We foolishly think
Believe
that guns offer us protection
The demons do not fear physical things
There is no logic to be found within our desperate moments
Evil breathes and eats it's own air

Jesus reaches out his hands
Wanting so badly to embrace us
Do we not realize that free will is a costly choice?
We are the deluded ones, choosing to go our own way
Further and further from God's protection

God remains steadfast
Earnestly waiting to answer our call
Willing to move both Heaven and Earth
Why do we still choose to wait?
Why do we deny God's existence?
The Devil smiles
He is pleased with our choices
Opening his door wide
Enticing us
Ushering us to his table
Past the walls of innocence
His is a place where little angels do not exist
Thankfully, even if we do not believe in God
The innocent will know no more pain
They will be safely sheltered in the Savior's loving arms
The memory of their pain will vanish upon the morning breeze

We cry for them and yet they have no tears
Their days are filled with joy
They know a purpose much higher than our own
If we too become like little children
We will know joy
For this is meant to be our inheritance
Will we choose to walk away?

The walls of innocence protect God's children from the wiles of the evil one. Having been exposed to such wiles, it is much more difficult to us adults yet it's us who cry for the children...ironic and such deep truth in your write, Rick. If this is for the contest, let me wish you the best. hugs!

Your faith shines through, Richard. It's been a difficult two weeks for me...I've had someone very dear to me question....all these "realities". It hurts....Thanks for this moving testament. Hugs
