Wall Painting
There hangs the painting on a once vacant wall
Unmoved and unnoticed by any single man
Painted by someone who died in a short span
Who was willing to give purely for the fall
When he thought that he had accomplished it all
And had done everything precisely to plan
It was too late to undo what he began
His service was needed in a duty call
Now hangs the painting in the busy parlor
Seen by all who admire beautiful scenery
The deceased nameless painter is now well known
Since the gallant soldier was man of valor
Displayed in military khaki greenery
Was the painter whose painting would now be shown
