Walking Through the Woods, Alone
A falling leaf
Shys to the ground
Of trash and fallen trees.
The woods, alone,
Solemnly watch
A miracle float upon the breeze.
It touches the Forrest floor
So soft
And echoes a lovely crack.
The sound is carried
From sea to sea
By a wind that does not come back.
A squirrel comes
To examine the fall
Under a serious sky.
The trees and leaves around
All watch
As the clouds begin to cry.
The sobs of rain
And whimpers of wind
Show affection for the fallen.
The fight for life
And all that has left us
Leaves with the leaves of Autumn.
