Walking the Dog On a Foggy Morning

Walking the Dog on a Foggy Morning

Walking the dog on a foggy morning;
Eerie, quiet, meditative time.
Footsteps compete with unseen others,
Humming low to figure define.

Far away a haunting horn,
Lonely you may be, but not forlorn,
The fur on Fido is wet without rain,
Patient, please, with relief again.

Two souls wondering in the mist,
One dreaming of questions of old,
Fog shutting out all the world, and
What the future beyond will hold.

Pat said "haunting but still serene" and that's exactly right. A very good poem.

This has taken me back to my childhood, back then coal fires and pollution would cause very thick fogs in wintertime. Very descriptive verse Sunlite. Tom

Such vivid imagery sunlit I loved the line with the dogs fur being wet from the swirling mist not from rain. I found the imagery hauntingly beautiful:-) hugs Jan xx
