Walking In The Forest Of Dean
Went for a walk in the Forest of Dean and was pleased to see
A misty blue haze of bluebells to the right and left of me
A squirrel too darted with great speed up an old oak tree
Kept to the well-worn paths because in places it was muddy.
In olden times it once was a royal medieval hunting ground
With traces of old iron works and coal mining can be found
It is in West Gloucestershire between the Severn and the Wye
And isn't that remote there's plenty of small towns close by.
You can hear the song of the wind blowing through the trees
That’s the beauty of mother nature, she just loves to please
There are well over twenty million trees in the forest of Dean
Predominantly majestic oaks but many others can be seen.
A babbling brook looked like quicksilver in the morning sun
Occasionally you'd see some joggers out for their daily run
Along with a few dog walkers and some just out for a stroll
Not forgetting keen mountain bikers tackling a steep knoll.
Then a peace descends on you and you're left totally alone
Have my phone set on silent, so no intrusion of a ringtone
Love being away from the hustle and bustle of my town life
And there’s only me and one other my soul mate my wife.
