Walking Away With My Heart
I will always love you
that’s the last words he
uttered, before
he stood up and walked away
before he walked out of my life forever…
That day is a constant refrain in my head
all the time, almost
every second of every day…
It started like any ordinary day
and yet it felt totally different,
he held me a little
tighter than usual,
he kissed me with
more passion,
a little longer than normal…
I should have sensed
something was amiss
but I was too caught up
in us, in what we have, to
see that the writing was on the wall…
How can you love someone?
this much and still leave
them behind
how do you justify, leaving us
brokenhearted
you thought I wouldn’t
understand, that I wouldn’t
be able to handle you
when your energy is low
when you’re too tired…
You were so wrong,
you’re still my every thought
I pray for you every night…
I want you to know that
calling it off doesn’t change the fact that
I’ll love you forever…
