Waking Dreams

In my waking dreams,
I see my hand as it slowly caresses your smooth skin;
Muscles rippling and starting at my slightest touch.
Every texture and contour is memorized by the soft pads of my fingers;
Each perfect imperfection there for me to explore.
The musky scent of you invades my senses and surrounds me-
The smell of my own personal Heaven, my haven from the unforgiving world.
Harsh sounds of your breath across my skin;
Your voice's husky timber as you whisper the sounds of untold delights
Linger on the air,
And your laughter echoes through the recesses of my very being
The slightly salty taste of you lingers beguilingly on my tongue
Beckoning me to lavish in the passion that comes only with you.
I look into your eyes and know I am the center of your heart....
The only thing that matters.
For moments, the world is held at bay and there is
only you... only me... only us... together.
Holding on to an ecstasy of our own making.

Slowly reality intrudes,
Sound by cacophonous sound
Sights by brash, glaring sight,
Scented with the putrid certainty
That you are gone... beyond my reach.
My soul mate lost to me... forever in this lifetime.
And the weight of uncertainty presses me down...
Wondering if and when we will meet again.
Will we have our time in the next life or the next?
Could forever ever be long enough?
Until then my heart, my love,
I breathe,
And see you in my waking dreams....

Greatly speaks to the senses with well chosen words, though the mourning takes a seat in the final verses.one thing I didn't understand is the force of the feeling the soul mates shared while there was nothing sensuous in -between!
