Inspired by and an interpretation of: "El poeta pide a su amor que le escriba" (He begs his love to write) by Federico García Lorca *** Waiting in Agony - revised Silence in time halts turns people to phantoms futureless without past in twilight Surprising how paper comprises awareness discredits in bloodless ink Your pen pierces surface scratches dead stone etches deep lines in absence Poison in my veins I beg you release me save me kill me *** June 4, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Darren, have you published your poetry other than on poetry soup? Have you thought about it? I have just finished my first anthology. Publishing is a work of love and not for money and giving away (mostly) the hardcopy to friends and family feels amazing...

I am working on it. I have joined a forum to improve my writing, I get a load of immensely useful critique and I learn a lot there. I have sent in a number of poems for contests that award publication. Yes, I am working on it, but I feel I need to polish my skills a bit first :) Thanks!

I did not read Lorca's poem, but yours is so heartfelt. It sums up writing for me. Great. Many wishes, Kai

Thank you my friend. Lorca was a great poet, so wild, such raw talent.

How you manage to pack so much emotion, so much need and longing into your work amazes me. You have such a unique way of saying things and in this case I believe interpreting things. It's like sitting there waiting for a phone to ring that never does. How many times can we pick it up and check that it is still on before we realize it doesn't matter, its not going to ring. Very cool my friend.

Yes, this was my interpretation of Lorca's poem. Lorca is one of my favourite poets. This one, I could feel it, and I am glad you could too :) Thanks my friend.

Cool and commendable interpretation, Darren. You pulled it off w/class and existential intensity. Kudos my friend. Your poetic serrated chops just got sharpened by seventh power to the Nth dimensional notch. In other words, it was out of this world good poetry. Excellent write, my friend. Love and smiles.

made me think of gossip - shame - lies mixed with a little of the truth - death of one's character - a wanting of the truth to be told |-:-|

He wants his love(r) to finally write him a letter, is completely a wreck, it's indeed a painful interpretation of a painful poem he wrote. Thank you :)

Do you ever read a poem and don't know how to form a response - go away and come back to read another time? I do this. A lot. This is a passionate poem (my opinion) and all the feels are well said of longing and frustration from the silence. So well done! :)
