Notes About The Poem

waiting for the (probably bad) news

Waiting

I’m waiting out the day
with minimalist hopes
and recycling anxiety.

I’m waiting for the hour
for a smooth transfer of power
or for things to go sour.

I’m waiting for the word
after a period of counting
for freedom’s call
or an accelerated freefall.

Every other American voter wants four more years of COVID-19, so let them have it! They certainly deserve it! Meanwhile, continue spending lockdown with your pen at hand! Aloha! Rico
