Wages of Sin
Heavy the weight of evil's darkened blight.
In dread one breaks heart's vast moral compass.
Sombre regret lays seige upon my brow.
Bewitched my mind is rampant by false truths.
For vanity lays waste to vanity.
Mind's conflict changes like the river tide.
Time's fleeting torment yet today unspent.
Thoughts blossom, wilt, die, like a single rose.
Selfish vain souls repent for their own gain.
Fools barter coins at heaven's golden door.
Misguided belief plagues on lonely hearts.
Misery festers thick like winter's mist.
History repeats by foul men in rogue.
But hark the wager is already won.
Musture courage from mercy's precious gift.
To lay vigil and confess all my sin.
So when my life reaches its nat'ral end.
Be welcomed in whole by ill deserved praise.
