Notes About The Poem

Or...Poetry Soup? ;)

Voyeur

You look through the windows of my poetry
Deep into the bedroom of my heart
you watch me undress
button by button
It slowly slips down
You adjust the focus
of those binoculars on your screen
reading my poetry
seeing my naked soul
you watch
for free
at a distance
at a safe distance

You watch me dance
In your mesmerized trance
You watch me smile
and all the while
You watch
You see the tears
you see the shadow of fears
streaking my face
leaving a trace
you watch

day in
day out
night time
wondering if I'm alone
if anybody else is home
if my bed is warm
if you see another form
there with me
you NEED to see
I feel your eyes
looking in through my poetry window

Voyeur
you're just a voyeur
living my life vicariously
without touching me
it's your destiny
you look for safety
a distance you keep from me
I know you're there
I relish your stare
I know you want to
walk through that door
looking for something more
but your too afraid
of the inconvenience
of my moods
my happy swings
my sorrowful stings

You're a voyeur
You watch me for free
but one day
I'll close the shutters
blocking my words
withering your soul
as you wither mine
it's fine

Voyeurism is just...
just a waste of time
I want to flesh and blood with you
it's true
But voyeurism
is all you know how to do
One day
Your "watching days"
They will all be through

Another will watch AND caress
will help me undress
and kiss and will bless
all that and more
for the one
who walks through the door
and dances with me
and sets demons free
Voyeurism
doesn't cut it
with me!

Eileen don't listen to Jan she just makes those things up about me. It's not true I wasn't looking up the skirt of your poetry. I know she said I wanted to read you without your knickers on but that's just the way those Brits talk. All joking aside this is a fabulous write strangely erotic. You made my putter flutter.

I love to watch..to.feel the heart and soul of the person, then comment to show him.her you hoew I love what you write. I have a voyeur in mind..One who watches from a distance and every now and then stops by... So i can truelly understand the emotion here.. Life goes on..and little by little the voyeur loses all. I soo love this Eileen. Adding it to my fvs.

You are my soul sister. We share so much. My sweet. Yes....the voyeur loses all. It's like the person who loves watching a storm...but will never get gloriously wet. Thanks for the visit, my dear. Hugs

I believe that is true, Richard. I do believe that's true. As for the sexy bit....you know I can hardly refrain from adding that in to spice things up a bit. We need spice in life...just not in food. I don't stomach it well! ;)

I agree with Paul -- Powerful was the word that was in my head reading your poem. It's provocative without offending, edgy without being crude. A wake up call, an invitation to participate . . . our culture is changing and social peeping . . . creeping (my daughters tell me) is here, even here in the soup. Engaging one another is challenging, messy, even painful at times but so rewarding. I wonder what other think??? Outstanding write 7

Hello, David. Glad to have you visit...AND engage! ;) I appreciate your depth of understanding and vision. Yes, your daughter is right...lots of things like this go on. I had a different slant to this. Sometimes we like to read about a person's personal life...like watching a storm unfurl, but we don't bother to get them in out of the rain...sort of thing. It's sad. If you enjoy the show...then pay for it...pay in emotion and love. Hugs

Really enjoyed this Eileen......There are many voyeurs, maybe afraid to comment for it might spoil their image or maybe just socially inadequate and prefer to stay behind the bushes..I will watch then comment : )...hugs T ...C--->A

Hey, Cupid. That is so true. That is why poets who tell it as it is have such a high regard in my mind. It takes bravery to say what you feel.....to be PRESENT....and to let go when you need to. I know. Thanks for the visit.

Hi Eileen...this is strong and powerful. Enjoyed immensely. A voyeur is usually one who likes to peep and enjoy without daring to comment for fear of being found out. He could easily be one of those who scoffs in order to cover up his true feelings. hugs // paul

I do not think it is too much...I caught on straight away. The voyeur is the one who intentionally sneaks a peep without commenting, not those who enjoy reading but who do not always find the need to comment.

:) Yes...someone who reads but doesn't post...who doesn't want to get involved. In a way, Paul...we all have a little bit of the voyeur in us. Do you think this one is a bit too much? I chose analogy because I'm comparing the reading of the poems with Watching...but not posting...not getting involved. I know you caught that, but....is it too much? Let me know. Hugs

:) Thanks, Anne Lise, my Sunshine. Poetry is a baring of the soul. We are all voyeurs because we read into other people's lives but can keep a distance. It's strange, isn't it. Hugs
