Void of Life

For any glimpse of light he sought, As he turned to a chiming clock, But in this world there is naught. Many years the world had taught, Of fire, water, wind, and rock. For any glimpse of light he sought, His destiny was formed as it ought. The system promised greatness in its talk. But in this world there is naught. Now cast aside and forgot, Under darkness, he shivered in shock. For any glimpse of light he sought, From the endless black a beam shot. And he found truth, he broke the lock, But in this world there is naught. For this good he struggled and fought, But in dismay he saw it was schlock. For any glimpse of light he sought, But in this world there is naught. Nov. 21, 2022
