Voice of Peace

You ask: who has the voice of peace?
He who goes through the crash of thunder and
the murmur of the moon, earful of war and
short-lived souls. who has filled graves with tears
and touched the tombs of heroes with pride and joy,
who has the audacity of saying "no" and lighting up
a smile to hatred and scorn, who stands tall before
the firing squad and his last word is "the beautiful season is near,"
with a voice that's distinct, like a drum, and rings in you ears
like bells of new year, anchored in hope, a voice of clarity
beyond the shadows, above self-reproach, a voice of reason
that speaks the truth to power and love to the heart, seeking liberty
and justice for all.
