Notes About The Poem

Vivi the Kitten

From the streets where she used to roam
My brother found her and brought her home

To be a new forever friend to live with me
Her persistent presence has made me free

No longer shackled to shadows or despair
I find me and Vivi make quite the pair

And when she plays she uses neither teeth nor claws
As if she knows the unwritten laws

But the truth is she brings me the greatest joy
And perhaps that was my brother's ploy

For once I can genuinely smile
Hoping she'll stay quite awhile

From the streets where you used to roam
Vivi, I'd just like to welcome you home
