Violet Kiss

Long-lasting kisses in the dark Eyes closed To keep it reverberating within Sweet sunrises on your right Until it fades into reality Only a short perfect illusion for the hungry Never getting too close Too close for comfort I see the fear in your eyes What you tried, oh, so hard to hide To stop ourselves from becoming numb Just strangers With the same greed To be touched, to be held Never crossing the line But when disdain comes in the way Is my cue to leave Only have pity for the emotionless On the high ground now The high ground is my holy region Until I go higher Yes, I admit I still overthink now Head in my hands Between my knees But I don’t let the demons eat at me Any longer Than more than one train ride Never authorizing entry to the parasites Is when I let my breathing go back to normal Let my heart cool And transfer to the next ride On time Never late Never keeping the expired wine in the fridge for too long No use other than for My next home cooked meal of the day There isn’t just The One Our lives are filled with many The Ones The One that got away The One who was my karmic soul mate Meant to never be together The One, the first of innocence and purity shared and lost The One, the weak and meek Selfish to their comfort The One, to stay away from Taught me how to tell Right from wrong To not fall for people like you The One, the stranger hidden in the shadow of the night Left my violet kiss on your heart Let it stay on your mind as it allows tonight Let the notes of the piano be burned in your memory tonight
