Vignette-A Rebel With a Cause

They burned his books and his bones,
Throwing them deep in the river,Swift;
His bones,though food for fish
We have his testamentary gift-
A bible,to read in our native English.

Tribute to John Wycliffe (1320-84) the first translator of the Bible into English

He did a great job and apparently was unapprediated. I live next door to Little Swift Creek. Thanks for the educational tidbit. Keep the creative pen flowing. I enjoyed writing the tribute to my husband "Handy Man" it was running in my head as bits and pieces of info and that is what was pulled together. Thanks for your comments. Sara

Love the title in this one especially, Brian...I wonder how many millions of lives have been changed forever because of one brave martyrs' deeds? Regardless of one's religious convictions (Obviously mine are the same as yours and I may be wrong about this)...The Bible was the first book which laid down a 'framework' and 'guidelines" on how the human race should conduct themselves - Tim
