Wonderful powerful poem. Brought tears to my eyes. My grandma's brother was blown up in Germany during WWII 2 weeks before his 20th birthday. My great-grandma never got over it. So, I understand the huge important sacrifice.

Hallo Herr Professor!! A magnificent tribute to the veterans who did so much for others and paid the ultimate price. So many never had the chance to live on and to return home. (As a U.S. military veteran who survived a former military career, I salute you for your words of praise and inspiration here for those who did so much, and sacrificed their lives for the freedoms that many of us in the world enjoy today!!)
