Wonderful powerful poem. Brought tears to my eyes. My grandma's brother was blown up in Germany during WWII 2 weeks before his 20th birthday. My great-grandma never got over it. So, I understand the huge important sacrifice.

Thank you dearest, Christy for reading my poem. I feel so sorry for your grandma and her brother. My father lost his brother in the same war and to honor his brother my father baptized me after him! God bless you!

Hallo Herr Professor!! A magnificent tribute to the veterans who did so much for others and paid the ultimate price. So many never had the chance to live on and to return home. (As a U.S. military veteran who survived a former military career, I salute you for your words of praise and inspiration here for those who did so much, and sacrificed their lives for the freedoms that many of us in the world enjoy today!!) In reality it is not only to those who died that we owe our gratitude but also to those who served and fought! Certainly to those who gave up their life for us to be free we owe everything!
