Veteran's Day

Once a soldier of peace, in Condemnation of war Full of Consternation for carnivorous divide But good is not static when Apathy slips too far For Reverence of calling, within scruples confide His uncut hands offered to Unearthliness unseen Innate Predilection to cleanse the monsters unclean He Encompassed bravery lost so often to pride. 11/2/18 for 7 lines, 7 words rhyme contest sponsored by Lu Loo

Great read! Thank you for sharing. We often use vehicles of sort to get where we are going. One could say, the human body is simply a needed vehicle for the spirit till mature. The problem is, when one stills his soul and becomes the vehicle. Life is nothing without the freedom to remain who one is at the core, and always conscious of it. Once we take on a role, no matter how noble it seems on the obvious service, we are little more than performers on a stage, and not the writers and directors.

This is beautifully penned, dear Michelle. This is my favorite part: "His uncut hands offered to Unearthliness unseen Innate Predilection to cleanse the monsters unclean" If this one is not in the winner's circle, I would be gobsmacked.
