Vermilion Leaves

Crimson, cerise, scarlet, and vermilion leaves die as Summer grieves. Without delay, brisk breezes denude the trees; they've no guarantees. Nature savors the essence of Fall's decay, a mushroom gourmet. And as She prepares to weave Winter's white shroud, no tears are allowed. Crimson, cerise, scarlet, and vermilion leaves caught on Nature’s sleeves disappear like thieves.

Emile, one of my favorites (so far) in your book. I enjoy all the exotic colors and especially the couplet "Mother Earth prepares to spin Winter’s death shroud / no tears are allowed". The half-eleven is such an interesting form, and well utilized for this tale of nature's fierceness.

- A 1st grade poem, Emile :) - "Mother Earth prepares a spin Winters death shroud no tears are allowed "... whoever does not shed tears, hiding their feelings ... I think the autumn is sad ... all the beautiful around us dies ... - Luck in the contest :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Quite a challenge and you seemed to have succeeded, Emile. Love this line; "Nature savors the essence of Fall's decay."
