Veiled

My veil is my identity….
My veil is my dignity……
I want you to know me
for who I am……
Not for the way I look….
My veil is a symbol
of my surrender and submission
to Allah’s will…….
My veil is my expression…..
Don’t look at me through a prejudiced prism….
Don’t worry about me,
my thoughts and dreams are free…..
Be sure that there is a throbbing heart
and a thinking brain, behind this veil…..
Don’t judge me for the way I dress…..
Don’t judge me for the way I look
It may not fit in your idea of freedom
But be assured ,I am free as a bird
