Vampire Run

Vampire Run

My heart is racing,
as I notice the sharp
thorns have pricked a
stream of blood out of me.

Through the woods I run
to escape their swift wings
and their sharp fangs,
but the scent of my blood
gives my presence away.

How long will my legs last,
how will I know when I'm safe
and past their danger?
They're thirsty for my salty
carnal blood, my fresh young
fountain source.

How long will I run free as the
wind like a mortal,
How long will I enjoy the might
rays of the glorious sun?

I don't want to live for eternity
in the dark without a heart,
on the hunt searching for blood.
I want to die in peace as an old gray one.
I yearn to die human.
