Notes About The Poem

Valley and Mountains

Valley and Mountains
by M. Griswold

When will I have peace in my valley
rather than storms on the mountains.
Three times I have climbed to heights
and three times have I fallen, deceived.

I yearn for the rest which is promised
and yet I pass from turmoil to struggle
struggle to storm no peace to transform.
This heart battered and torn now forlorn.

Loving and living is all that I pray for.
My life is only mountains not valleys.
I long for release of constant upheaval.
God in his wisdom is a riddle to answer.
