Like magic, after Christmas day has passed,
the stores in malls display their hearts of red,
and Christmas love, short-lived, will be outcast
by a new holiday of love instead.
Observed with cards and candy, flowers too,
vendors of gifts for ones held dear in hearts,
bombard us with those options all in view
that guilt of 'not caught up in' soon imparts.
Valentine Shmalentine...a joke for sure,
as these commercial gifts don't fill the need
to truly show the love, heartfelt and pure,
that acts of kindness always supersede.
But merchants quickly act to claim their win
before the Easter madness waltzes in.
