Valentine Day 2016
Awakened early on this Sunday morn,
Without thought that it was a special day,
As carefree as the day that I was born.
For breakfast I would have some flakes of corn.
And for my food I'd bow my head to pray.
Awakened early on this Sunday morn.
Before I choose my outfit to adorn
My body, I climb on the scales to weigh,
As carefree as the day that I was born.
Between computer and newspaper torn,
And eager for what email had to say,
Awakened early on this Sunday morn.
No pretty cards for me I would have sworn.
Two Valentines from far across the way.
As carefree as the day that I was born.
Though my love is gone I won't be forlorn.
Friends do not care if my hair has turned grey.
Awakened early on this Sunday morn,
As carefree as the day that I was born.
