Vague Concerns Beside Me In Bed

I could be going deaf
in my right ear.

One of the neighbor’s dogs
has it out for me
one day it will break down
it’s fence and like the Berlin Wall
I will be history.

I think I might end up
homeless for a time
or sleep in a shelter
one eye open in the back of my head.

I have fallen in love
I think it is going to break my heart
in only a matter of time.

Could be that all these things
are for the better
or they are omens of demise

but I have been dying for twenty-six years
not sure how much longer
but that does not concern me anymore.
