Vacation Loner
Collecting maps
of obscure roads,
the unpredictable nomad
in a plain, gray car
changes horizon as
unknown paths extend the day,
passing by vans into priceless scenery,
ignoring the passing of time.
Thoughts of the shore or
thoughts of the mountains
while escaping the city
bring daydreams of freedom from
meetings and schedules.
Dinner in a diner,
sleep in a guest house,
no glamour, just comfort
and simplicity of life.
