Upstream

My river of existence flows upward
As I struggle with the narrowing width
While the depth of my water shallows
To that level which cannot sustain joy
The uphill battle to flow consistently
Becomes my daily task, my climactic war
Of a dependency on bettering my life

Very introspective and philosophic, I feel your upward-climb pain - we are right there with ya. love Kristin

In striving for something better, there is hope. This poem has an honest, heartfelt feel to it. Fitting title. Much to think about in your words. Though joy cannot be sustained, honor can. In that, we can take heart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Karen
