Up Jones Creek Holler

Hidden among the trees up Jones Creek holler In an old rustic log cabin with only three rooms Where a family of twelve lives in squalor Hidden among the trees up Jones Creek holler The father has a reputation for being a brawler The mother expertly sews Halloween costumes Hidden among the trees up Jones Creek holler In an old rustic log cabin with only three rooms Hidden among the trees up Jones Creek holler Where a family of twelve lives in squalor The father has a reputation for being a brawler. "Where a family of twelve lives in squalor" This reminds me of the story Coal Miner's Daughter, and the Dolly Parton biography too.

Yep, lots of stories like theirs here in the Appalachians. I've been to Loretta's home here in Kentucky, but not to Dolly's in Tennessee.

Graphic write, Milt. I can see Mother rocking slowly back and forth in a tired old rocking chair while father, sat in a chair tipped back on its rear legs, dozes on the decking outside, a beer on the floor at his feet and his shotgun laid across his lap. Like it lots. Terry

Takes one back a century or so. Better than having to drive all the way there. I just can picture it. Image-laden, sentiment-packed write, Milt. Love it. ~ Gershon

Thanks so much, Gershon, but it's still happening up in the hollers of Appalachian West Virginia and Kentucky. I'm glad you found it a good write.
