Up From Here
Words spoken in secret at times decreased their worth
Even more so when shown
Plastic cars invade the avenue
The "real" ones left at home
Naught allowed to hear
Subjected, so I barely listen
The light is on, I looked around
Found nothing of nothing was missing
Seek not generic validation
The authentic version can be given by only He
The lessons learned
Should a dog bring
It will take, refuse to snatch the bone
Turn my mountains into plains
For I cannot fly, run, or crawl
I can barely stand
Done being the child for 3 decades
Past time to be a man
I no longer choose to sit lower than the bottom step
If the mountain won't move or crumble I'll dig through it
Until I run out of breath then rest
Repeat
Was filtered through the rocks at the bottom
It's now only up from here.
As I near the top I'll still lend a hand
To the ones that struggle behind and in front me to attain peace
