Untold

Abandoned sunsets slip past fingertips As intrepid sagas chart darkness grown In cloud covered stars guiding homeward ships Destined for cacophonous fates unknown Beyond dawn's memories of beauties flown And captured under weighted thunder's swing Insomnia's pen collects colored string Lacing blue moons where sorrel skies unfold Crooked circles tracing her crippled king Only poets can know the lines untold 8/11/20 For 'Pick a Tile, Volume 21 - Dizain' contest Sponsor: Edward Ibeh theme: Untold

I agree with Gershon - you are an incredible poetess - 'Insomnia's pen collects colored string' - your poems are fascinating Michelle. Blessings, Jennifer.

Only poets know how many re writes it can take!

Only real poets can write such eloquent verse... No wonder I got tangled up reading it... Had to view it again and again... Surely that is a sign that this is 'real poetry!' ~ Ca-cough-'n's my fate!

This one took many re writes to get it to where I liked it, I am glad you got 'tangled up' - in a good way I hope!

Soul-soothingly tasty nuggets, these ones...it must take a poet to understand the poet - for only they might somewhat discern 'the lines untold'. Thank you for penning & sharing this comfortingly spot-on opus, Michelle!

So many lovely poetic references to the unknown: the abandoned sunset over the horizon of our visibility, the darkness, cloud cover, fates unknown, beyond dawn's memories; all these artistic splashes combine to give one the sense of "something unknown is out there". I love the line "Insomnia's pen collects colored string" and your great ending line. The brilliance is in the space you leave for imagination to fill in the colors. Great rhymes, too - pure poetry. This should do very well. ~ John

Michelle, it's a tribute to your craftsmanship that you will work and rework your words until they satisfy you. Until you tame the tiger, so to speak. Even if it is 3am. Your passion is evident.

This is one I spent a lot of time on, I think I rewrote it about a half dozen times before I was happy with it. I had the last line early on, and then I was trying to decide 'what will this poem be about?' I finally got the right feel for it at 3 am (of course!) It is so gratifying to know how much a fine writer like yourself appreciates it!
