Until They Shine

Wading through fragmented thoughts Searching for one last poetic line To slip around a shattered heart Then shaped into a perfect bow Pulsating softly like guitar strings As they begin to play real slow Replacing old queasy emotions With melodic breezes that flow Through the canyons of mind Once found in a bottle of whiskey That has now been left behind Gliding in Texas two-step rhymes To the Silver Bullet Band we bid goodnight Our last dance becomes A mellow tune that only Seger hums We dance between the verses of smoothed out lines That seem to roll endlessly through gifted minds To be left off the page, until they shine

I haven't heard that song in a very long time. I think I'll have to queue it up again soon. I enjoyed the imagery in the poem. It makes me wonder what you'd do with Seger's "She's Got The Fire Down Below." Hee hee.

Very cool poem! I love the metaphors throughout and it flows so well, like a softly strummed guitar, I'd say. Beautiful work my friend. Always, Laura

Wow, this is so impressive Karen. It kept getting better and better and I didn't want it to end. What I call "silver words"....they shimmer and shine as you ended your poem with that last line. Brilliant! This one is going straight into my fav's.

Good morning, Karen. Did you mean for this to be categorized as "free-verse"? I thought you had some lovely rhymes throughout. I also enjoyed the modern feel of it; as you know, I am trapped in centuries past, so I liked the present-day mood. Very well executed poem, my talented friend :)

I felt a little more into Free Verse mood than Rhyme when I wrote it ; but thank you for noticing the rhyme patterns and thank you for your grand comments :)

I really enjoyed this piece, there was plenty of new imagery for me. You slip from Free Verse into Rhyme at the middle to the end so labeling this Verse would be best. You certainly have a way with words! As to what 'inspired' [The Sowing] I've simply known and know too many woman who have been victimized by men.

WOW ... Debbie thank you for the enlightening comments. The pattern in much of my writing is to slip from Free Verse into Rhyme and I had not thought about why until your comment... Thank you so much :) The poem loosely is based on a song by Bob Seger and was listening to it when I wrote this... I sort of see it as an attempt to bring peace to a chaotic and anxious mind... Thank you so much !

The universal culture is SO used to this behavior they seem immune to our contributions as well as our pain. [only war & warriors can claim heroism or bravery in their minds & this is SO wrong] Light & Love
