You need to do something while sitting in an empty school cafeteria at 11:15 AM.
I sit in the empty school cafeteria
Watching the floors being mopped
By a dark skinned worker in jeans and a bandana
Taking in the smells of disinfectant
The tables and chairs are all lined up like soldiers
Awaiting the battle cries
The clock yells out eleven fifteen AM
Forty-five minuets to the charge
The animals in the forest
Smell the red meat and
Are licking their lips in anticipation
While circling the surrounds
Looking for the enemy
For their friends
For the opposite sex
And for a safe haven
All in one glance
The animals
See and take in the smells of the opposite sex
Beyond the disinfectant
And red meat
Making small talk
And eating faster
Until it’s all gone and
They go to their next class battle
The animals in the forest
See and take in the smells of the opposite sex
Beyond the disinfectant
Making small talk
Until it’s all gone.
