Notes About The Poem

Image result for pictures of an elderly woman who has just been widowedImage result for pictures of an elderly woman who has just been widowedAbout the night my husband died. Theme in this  work: Hope. Title refers to Scripture in Bible: Hebrews 11:1, King James Version...Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Unseen Becomes Seen When There's Hope

Midnight draped darkness around like a shroud The silence though was like stone on air 'Twas paused by ambulance's weighted cloud Our vows once spoken, now beyond despair Now night seems to press in upon my hand Shadows fill corners of my old worn mind Then a spark springs forth that needs to be fanned That tiny light spark knows hope I'll soon find Once buried seed dreams of spring's sun warm glow Deep within, silent faith endures long, strong My hope and faith are not fragile, but flow Whisper, come forth let your love go in song Dark that enshrouded me release today My heart has some hope and will find a way

Emotive and beautiful sonnet reflecting on both grief and hope. You are a good strong woman, Sara

Thank you, Andrea. The grief is getting better. I had to take my pet into the vet's hospital yesterday to get a dental cleaning, so I was with Doris and Wayne twice for a couple of hours, and that helped a lot by my being with family other than Cody. Your visit is encouraging and supportive. Sara K.

'Till death do us part' - a harsh thing to say because it actually does happen, for when two young people take their vows, they hardly hear what they are saying, as they are so excited - they are getting married. Then the fateful day arrives and it is then only, that ones faith pulls them through and the hope that he or she will be waiting with open arms to meet you. A very heartbreaking TRUTH BECOMES REAL. great write with infinite emotion Sara my friend. Love and hugs Jennifer.

Even the memories of the fatal day when one loses his/her partner in life is painful. But once when hope intervenes, the heaviness gets lifted away and new anticipation takes its place.

Yes, Valsa, it getting better, but at my age and failing health it is very difficult. I have one daughter who is helping me with so much and my grandsons help me with some things. I have a grandson who lives here though who has Huntington's Disease, and he is a very difficult to deal with now. He will have to go to a nursing care home at some time, but no one knows when. I hear him downstairs now and he sounds like he is coughing like he might have gotten strangled or choked on food, but it has cleared without me intervening. Sara K.

Kim, yes, once we say those vows only death can erase those vows, but I am still attached no matter if he is gone. Your visit is uplifting. Sara K.

Yes, Dorothy, we'll both be healed, in our best physically, mentally, and emotionally with the ability to love with agape love that only when we reach those heavenly shores. Now we can only love with a weak form of it if we have been born again. Thank you for the uplifting and encouraging review. Sara K.
