Unrequited Love

If only I could have told you how I really
felt.

You are my best friend and I loved being
around you.

You’re the one I called on when I had a
bad day.

On many occasions when my family
were fighting, you were there.

You were my rainbow after a very bad
storm.

I found comfort in your loving arms.

You me made feel special when it felt as
though, the world said I was no good.

I was vulnerable around you, I showed you
my ugly truth, and you didn’t even flinch.

I never understood why you said, my
scars were beauty marks.

I still remember your eyes, they’re loving
and kind.
I still remember your dimples, they’re mes-
merizing.
I still recall your voice, it’s like music to my
ears.
I still recall your scent, it’s the best aroma
ever.

There’s no way you could have known
how I felt, I was to afraid to tell you.
You’re an amazing friend and confidant
and I couldn’t bare to lose you.

If Only You Knew…. I was madly in love
with you,

What would you have done?

We’ll never know because now you’re
married with a family of your own.

Not a day that goes by that I don’t
think about what could have been.

If only you knew……. my darling
that I’m still in love with you.

I love the words, "You were my rainbow after a very bad storm." The 'what ifs' are bittersweet, with the sweet memories along with the regrets. Nice song to accompany the reading. I agree that scars are beauty marks for they speak to the power to overcome adversity as well as being markings unique to that individual. When we own our scars we own our deepest self, and a person who can do that is beautiful indeed. Congrats on your high placement, Alexis!

This touches my heart deeply, Alexis. Probably many of us have been through similar experiences, and it can be tough...that "if" will never be answered. Congratulations on pacing second. Regards // paul
