unrecognize myself

I look in the mirror, but don’t recognize, The person I see, with unfamiliar eyes. I want to shed the skin I wore, Leave behind the past, forevermore. The echoes of who I used to be, Feel distant now, they don’t belong to me. I crave the change, the clean slate, To leave behind what sealed my fate. No more the girl who once was torn, No more the heart that felt so worn. I’ll change my name, change my soul, Become someone new, someone whole. I’m ready to break, to fade away, And find the strength to seize the day. To leave the past in the past, unseen, And build a future, fresh and clean.
