Unraveling, Alone Two Heartbeats

A whirlwind, an understatement of what this day has become
Funny how it was a day where optimism would be welcomed in with open arms
Only to have confusion be the annoying friend
This is a book unraveling, sorry for the torn pages
They’ve been through a lot of havoc since the story has begun
Love in the air, just a lovely fairytale but only time can really tell
But time remains slow like watching a quarter fall into a wishing well
Is it the reason why people recite, “Wish you well”?
A storm is on its way, it’s haunting the leaves with a thrashing breeze
Although the initial signs remain unseen
Fear, is it really or is just a sense of fog
Doesn’t matter, the outside is protected by the window of fiber glass
While this desk resembles a cage and this body, an agitated tiger
Let it out, let it out
Only alone with a second heartbeat can the monster speak in silence and riddles
It is the mission meant to be but the heartbeat is mistaken and the epiphany is left unknown
Time is steadily creeping by, doesn’t help much
The yearning feeling is back and steadily growing
This constant shivering is shaking and shifting
Is it so wrong to just want confidence from a single loving smile
It’s incomprehensible to the one listening yet everything to the one chasing
The obstacle for the moment is the echo of sleep lingering
The cold air and soft words are acting as a temporary lullaby
Yet this lone heartbeat acts as an alarm clock shaking off the igloo, frozen and comforting
Out of all of this, out of all of this
One question remains: is the world ready for the rose to bloom again
Is the world ready for the resurrection of the million smile march
Would it be pure luck or karma running the show
Giving a decent reward for the many years of trials
Maybe one day this lesson will be learned, just not today
Could this be a misread interpretation of a miracle to reclaim something dead and withered
A dream to pick lively from memory to cradle, to cherish, to call it hopefully forever
A voice, tiny but audible, brings a warning to wait and watch
The heartbeats were not meant to merge not tonight, not tomorrow
Listening is replaced by impulse and dissolved patience and eagerness
The bell has rung, the distant sound of a heartbeat fading
…
The world was never ready for it, not again
It has shattered and deteriorated, twisted and bent permanently
But it’s for the best; it’s time to let it go
The voice, tiny but audible, says nothing; no “I told you so’s”
It was a misread interpretation of a miracle to reclaim something fallen, withered
A dream picked lively from a memory to cradle, to cherish, to call it a hopeful forever
But it’s all it could ever be
Forever a dream, never forever
Forever alone, unraveling one heartbeat
Now forever alone, unraveling one heartbeat
